Conclusion


The government's lack of respect and unwillingness to compromise led to the passage of the Indian Removal Act. This transformation in policy led to tragic conflict and demise of many American Indians. Despite displacement, the tribes continue to live as sovereign nations in the United States and strive for equal rights.
